Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support a diverse patient population in a hospital setting. Under RN supervision, you will provide direct and indirect care, perform phlebotomy and EKG procedures, and assist with daily clinical tasks to improve patient outcomes.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and completion of a PCT/CNA/MA program or HMH PCT Apprenticeship, with BLS within 60 days. Experience in phlebotomy and EKG is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of one of the following programs: PCT/CNA/MA or accredited Nursing Fundamentals program or HMH PCT Apprenticeship Program; or equivalent medical background.
• AHA Basic Health Care Life Support (BLS) certification within 60 days of starting.
• Ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing patient needs, and maintain teamwork and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care based on age and clinical needs.
• Communicate with patients, nursing colleagues, and health care team about patient status.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and point-of-care glucose testing as directed.
• Ensure equipment readiness and proper functioning; check code cart and emergency equipment.
• Assist with patient transport, meals, hygiene, and daily activities.
• Adhere to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
