Job summary

Mercy Health in Lorain, OH is seeking a Patient Care Associate (PCA) to join the Nursing Float Pool. You will provide direct patient care under the supervision of the RN, support daily needs, document vitals, and assist with mobility and personal care.

Ideal candidates have recent acute care or long-term care experience, BLS, and familiarity with EPIC EHR. This role requires strong communication and teamwork within a fast-paced environment and a unionized setting.

• Provides basic patient care including care and comfort, records vital signs, personal care and hygiene, and assists with mobility.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns.
• Provides high level customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Documents patient care accurately and promptly.
• Participates in hand-off/report of relevant patient and departmental needs.
• Performs delegated tasks once competency is validated.
• Mobilizes patients using therapeutic transfer techniques.
• Encourages patient independence in activities of daily living.
• Provide individualized care based on patient interests and needs.
• Communicate professionally in all situations.
