Job summary

Mercy Health - Lorain Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Companion for the Nursing Float Pool on a PRN basis in Lorain, OH. The role involves assisting with patient care under RN guidance, ensuring safety and quality in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include comfort care, mobility assistance, and reporting changes to the nurse. Must have recent healthcare experience; BLS preferred and can be obtained prior to direct patient care.

Qualifications

• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care)
• Recent experience in a healthcare environment, with a preference for the setting in which they are applying

Responsibilities

• Provides support to the patient including, but not limited to, care and comfort, personal care and hygiene, toileting, and mobility.
• Creates a safe environment for patients.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns.
• Provides high-level customer service to all patients, patient's family, visitors and all employees.
• Participates in hand-off/report of pertinent information regarding patient and departmental needs upon arrival and when leaving.
