Job summary

Mercy Health in Lorain is seeking a Patient Care Associate (PCA) for Med Surg 4W to provide direct patient care under supervision. You will support nursing staff, document care, and assist with mobility and daily activities.

Qualifications

• Nursing aide training or CNA/STNA certification (OH LTC if required) or nursing program with clinical rotation.
• 1 year of relevant clinical experience.
• Ability to follow directions and work with the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care including care and comfort, records vital signs, personal care and hygiene, and assists with mobility.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns.
• Provides high level customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Documents patient care accurately and timely.
• Participates in hand-off/report of pertinent information on arrival and departure.
• Performs delegated tasks once competency is validated.
• MobInizes patients using safe transfer techniques.
• Encourages patients to participate in tasks to promote independence.
• Communicates clearly both verbally and in writing.
