Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Patient Care Associate (PCA) for the Adult Behavioral Health unit at Lorain Hospital. The role involves delivering direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, documenting vital signs, and assisting with activities of daily living while ensuring patient comfort and safety.

The ideal candidate will have recent acute care experience, BLS certification, and training as a nursing aide (or equivalent).

Qualifications

• Recent experience in acute care, physician’s office, home health/hospice, or long-term care facility preferred.
• BLS Basic Life Support preferred on hire or must obtain prior to patient care.
• Nursing aide training program OR STNA/CNA/Nurse’s Aide state testing required or completed nursing program with clinical rotations.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under RN guidance.
• Report changes to nurse and document care accurately.
• Deliver high level customer service to patients and families.
• Assist with mobility and daily living activities as needed.
• Communicate clearly with the healthcare team and participate in hand-offs.
