Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health in Lorain, OH, is seeking a Patient Care Associate (PCA) for the Adult Behavioral Health Unit at Lorain Hospital. You will provide direct patient care under RN guidance, support patient safety, and document care as required by policies and procedures.

The role requires completion of nursing aide training or equivalent, BLS, and experience in acute care settings. This is a full-time position with 36 hours weekly and a 7a–7:30p shift, every other weekend and holiday.

Qualifications

• BLS Basic Life Support preferred or must obtain before direct patient care.
• Successful completion of nursing aide training program OR STNA/CNA or nursing program with clinical rotation.
• 1 year of relevant experience in a clinical setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care including vital signs, hygiene, mobility assistance.
• Act as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns.
• Provide high level customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Document patient care accurately and timely.
• Participate in hand-off/report of pertinent information.
• Perform delegated tasks once competency is validated.
• Assist with safe patient transfers and encourage independence.
• Communicate professionally in all interactions.
