Job summary

Wooster Community Hospital in Wooster, OH is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) on a PRN basis. You will assist nurses, communicate with patients and team members, and help with basic care needs under licensed staff supervision.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, completion of PCA training on hire, and BLS certification. EMT/STNA certifications may be required depending on unit, with on-call duties and potential unit reassignment as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Must complete WCH PCA training upon hire.
• If working in ED, EMT or STNA Certification required upon hire.
• If in Transitional Care Unit, STNA Certification required.
• No written disciplinary action in the last 12 months.
• Maintain current AHA Healthcare Provider BLS card.

Responsibilities

• Assist nurses in meeting patient needs as directed by RN/LPN.
• Communicate effectively with patients, support person(s) and health care team.
• Safely transport patients, round on patients, and participate in huddles.
• Provide hygiene care, comfort measures and infection control.
• Assist with nutrition, elimination and mobility; document care provided.
