Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) for General Med/Surg on a PRN basis during day shifts. The PCA will function from novice to competent, performing nursing assistant level tasks under the supervision of a licensed nurse.

Responsibilities include hourly rounding, basic ADLs, and reporting patient needs per policy, all within Houston Methodist ICARE values. The role emphasizes communication with patients, families, and the care team, with a focus on patient-centered care

Qualifications

• Demonstrates the skills and competencies to safely perform assigned tasks under supervision.
• Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English to perform essential functions.

Responsibilities

• Assists with direct patient care under RN supervision.
• Performs hourly rounding and reports observations to the licensed nurse.
• Maintains cleanliness, safety, and basic care activities for assigned patients.
