Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to support licensed nurses by assisting with daily living activities, monitoring patient needs, and maintaining safety within the unit. The PCA will conduct hourly rounds, document care provided, and respond to patient requests while upholding patient-centered care and ICARE values.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, BLS certification, and either six months of direct patient care or enrollment in a nursing program

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Six months of direct patient care experience or enrollment in a nursing program with first clinical rotation, or completion of PCA externship/internal internship.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic ADL care and other delegated nursing assistant tasks under licensed nurse supervision.
• Conducts hourly rounding to determine and respond to patient needs.
• Documents care, observations, and treatments per policy and procedure and reports to licensed personnel.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians and staff to support patient safety and service quality.
