Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role includes assisting with activities of daily living, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining a safe, clean environment across the unit.

Responsibilities include basic phlebotomy, vital signs, and coordination with the care team. A high school diploma and BLS/HeartSaver certification within 30 days are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) or HeartSaver First Aid certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist in direct patient care, promoting comfort under RN supervision.
• Support activities of daily living and bed-making for assigned patients.
• Safely transport patients and escorts for tests or discharge.
• Perform routine phlebotomy and glucose testing where allowed.
• Observe patient conditions and communicate changes to the RN to ensure safety.
