Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking an unlicensed assistive personnel to provide direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role emphasizes a family-centered experience and safe, compassionate support.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, performing basic tests, transporting patients, and aiding with examinations and rehab activities while maintaining a safe environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS or HeartSaver First Aid certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Prior patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in direct patient care under supervision of a registered nurse.
• Assists with activities of daily living and bed making.
• Transports patients and specimens per policy; supports safety.
• Performs basic tests and glucose monitoring as directed; supports charting.
• Obtains vital signs and documents measurements per policy.
• Provides respiratory support and encourages incentive spirometry.
• Observes patient condition and reports changes to RN immediately.
• Assists with examinations, procedures, and rehab activities.
• Maintains clean, safe environment and handles equipment; answers calls promptly.
