Job summary

Lake Charles Memorial Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Representative to greet patients, register them efficiently, and collect updated demographic and insurance information. Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of healthcare-related experience, preferably finance.
• Adequate keyboard skills (40 wpm).
• Basic computer skills and strong organizational abilities.
• Good communication and ability to discuss medical issues clearly.
• Negotiation skills and proactivity.
• Proficiency in reading, writing and speaking English.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers professionally and guide them to the correct area.
• Ensure timely patient registration, typically within 15 minutes to maintain flow.
• Collect updated demographics and accurately code information.
• Explain insurance processes, deductibles, co-insurance, and co-pays; discuss financial options.
• Obtain signatures and Medicare MSP information; provide Medicare notices.
• Verify insurance coverage and initiate authorizations when needed.
• Promote MyChart and collect patient email addresses for communication.
• Assist with patient flow and direct customers as needed.
