Job summary

The Luminis Health, Inc. Patient Access Associate (PAA) greets patients at the point of entry and collects essential demographic and financial information to ensure accurate registration and smooth admission workflows.

This role emphasizes patient identification, insurance verification, and clear communication about financial responsibilities, while maintaining HIPAA compliance and hospital policies. CPAS certification must be achieved within 8 months of hire and attention to detail is essential.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach to service delivery.
• Must obtain CPAS certification within 8 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and verify identities per hospital policy.
• Identify patients in the Master Patient Index and ensure accurate demographics.
• Explain required documents and obtain signatures or document inability to obtain signatures.
• Conduct face-to-face interviews to collect demographic and financial information.
• Process Real-Time Eligibility (RTE) messages and manage insurance coverages.
• Identify true self-pay patients and guide them to Medicaid eligibility resources.
• Explain hospital policies and provide excellent customer service.
• Schedule appointments, surgeries, and other procedures with pre-authorization as needed.
• Communicate financial responsibilities and refer to Charity Care when appropriate.
• Answer calls promptly and manage work queue to meet department deadlines.
• Adhere to policies and participate in required trainings.
