Responsibilities include patient greeting, identity verification, insurance verification, scheduling, and real-time eligibility processing. A CPAS certification within 8 months is required; high school diploma is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 0–11 months of direct Patient Access or healthcare registration experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients, families, and clinical teams.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach to service delivery.
• Must obtain CPAS certification within 8 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors courteously and professionally.
• Identify patients in the Master Patient Index to ensure accurate medical record creation.
• Update demographics per legal identification and verify armbands before placement.
• Explain required documents, obtain signatures where possible, and document any issues.
• Conduct face-to-face interviews to collect demographic and financial information with high accuracy.
• Process Real-Time Eligibility (RTE) messages and manage coverages.
• Identify true self-pay patients and route to Medicaid eligibility staff as needed.
• Scan documents into records and document notes in EMR.
• Explain hospital policies and financial responsibilities to patients and families.
• Schedule appointments and surgeries according to patient and provider preferences.
• Communicate financial responsibilities and assist with charity care options.
• Prioritize work, manage queues, and maintain performance standards.
