Job summary

Mercy is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapy Assistant to support initial patient assessments under supervision and to develop individualized treatment plans across all age groups. The role includes documenting progress and ensuring ongoing treatment needs are met according to Mercy policies.

Responsibilities include administering modalities, maintaining records, promoting departmental education, and adapting care for neonatal to geriatric patients.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupation Therapist Assistant program.
• Current license for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or eligible for licensure in state of practice.
• One year experience is preferred but will consider new graduates.
• BLS certification required. Certifications must be current before care for patients independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist with initial assessment on each patient under direction from O.T.R./L., per departmental policies.
• Document course of patient care including progress notes and the ongoing need for treatment.
• Administer appropriate modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures per policies.
• Maintain progress notes and departmental records on each patient per documentation and charges policies.
• Participate in promoting education within the department.
• Demonstrate knowledge of special needs and behaviors for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations.
• Perform miscellaneous job duties as directed by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.
