Job summary

UCI Health in Fountain Valley, CA is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support nursing staff and patient care. You will take vital signs, assist with hygiene and elimination, and help maintain a clean and safe unit environment.

You may stock supplies, operate hospital equipment as directed, and perform routine clerical tasks as assigned. The role requires basic medical terminology knowledge, English proficiency, weekend/holiday availability, CNA or nursing program enrollment with clinical exposure,

Qualifications

• Understand basic medical terminology and terminology used in patient care.
• Reading, writing and speaking English fluently to communicate with patients and staff.
• Able to work weekends and holidays as required by hospital shifts.
• Certified or in accredited nursing program with at least one clinical semester completed.
• Experience delivering patient care in a clinical setting is preferred.
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Completion of workplace violence responder training within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter.
• Clinical CNAs hired before May 2010 not required to obtain certification at this time.
• Ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic manner.

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs and document accurately.
• Assist patients with hygiene and elimination needs.
• Maintain a clean, safe unit environment and stock supplies.
• Operate hospital equipment as directed and perform routine clerical tasks.
• Support other assigned duties related to patient care as needed.
