Commonwealth Senior Living in Cedar Bluff, VA is seeking a Registered Medication Associate (RMA) to provide high-quality care by assisting with medication administration in a 7pm–7am shift. The role offers a pay range of $16–$22 per hour and a comprehensive benefits package for full-time associates.

The RMA will ensure residents receive appropriate medications, comply with state standards, and model the company values. Strong communication, confidentiality, and weekend flexibility are required.

Qualifications

• Must hold certification as a Resident Care Associate.
• Maintain continuing education credits to keep RMA certification.
• Knowledge of safe medication administration techniques.
• CPR and First Aid certified or willing to obtain.
• Understand and practice resident confidentiality.
• Able to work weekends and flexible hours.
• Demonstrate compassion for seniors and families.
• Proficient with basic office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and safe delivery of the Medication Management Program.
• Adhere to policies and state standards when administering medications.
• Administer and accurately record medications as prescribed.
• Present medications to residents and observe intake.
• Observe, record, report adverse effects and seek input as needed.
• Determine and record effectiveness of medications.
• Document refusals and reasons for non-administration.
• Store medications safely and accurately.
• Maintain accountability of medications during shifts.
• Document updates in the Daily Shift Log with resident data.
• Demonstrate safe handling of controlled substances.
• Inspect and maintain equipment and supplies for safety.
• Record vital signs as indicated during medication administration.
• Restock and reorder medications as needed.
• Document in resident records and complete incident reports.
• Follow infection control practices per OSHA standards.
• Communicate clearly with residents and staff; escalate as needed.
• Provide verbal encouragement and support to residents.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and professional demeanor.
• Participate in in-service training and education programs.
• Act as shift supervisor when appropriate.
• Maintain regular communication with the Resident Care Director.
