Job summary

The Medication Assistant (MA) at Good Samaritan provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a charge nurse. The MA helps with bathing, dressing, meals and mobility, while delivering compassionate care in a not-for-profit Christian setting.

They administer prescribed medications as delegated, document outcomes, monitor vital signs, and assist with wellness activities, housekeeping, and transportation as needed to support residents’ well-being and

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
• Minimum age of 18; prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• Satisfactorily completes yearly competency testing and maintains CE credits (12 hours annually).
• When applicable, may need a valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
• State CMA/CNA certifications required per state (Iowa/Minnesota/North Dakota/South Dakota) and active CMA/TMA as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance.
• Administer prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse.
• Document care, medication administration, behavior, activity, and dietary outcomes.
• Communicate condition changes and care concerns to the charge nurse.
• Assist with vital signs, transfers, mobility, and range of motion exercises.
• Provide housekeeping and laundry to keep living areas clean.
• Support wellness and recreational programs and participate in committees as needed.
