Job summary

St. Charles Health System is seeking a Medical Assistant to manage daily patient flow and gather triage information to support physicians. You will record patient data, assist with calls from patients and professionals, and help with procedures while maintaining a safe, confidential environment.

The ideal candidate has knowledge of ICD-10, CM/CPT/HCPCS coding and is familiar with practice management systems, with a commitment to professionalism and Lean-minded continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Knowledge of ICD-10, CM/CPT/HCPCS coding conventions.
• Working knowledge of medical practice management information systems.
• HIPAA requirements and patient confidentiality understood.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare for physician assessment.
• Record and maintain patient data in medical charts.
• Assist physicians with phone requests from patients and other professionals.
• Perform a range of ancillary and surgical procedures (excluding IV meds).
• Maintain equipment and supply inventory.
• Support Lean initiatives and uphold organizational values.
• Ensure a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests.
• Uphold professionalism, ethics, and compliance with laws and policies.
• Deliver timely, accurate patient care and customer service.
• May assume additional duties of similar complexity as needed.
