Job summary

St. Charles Health System seeks a Medical Assistant to manage daily patient flow, triage information, and anticipate physician needs for patient care. The role does not supervise others and emphasizes professional, confidential patient interactions.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, recording medical data, and assisting with calls from patients and medical professionals. Strong knowledge of coding, EMR systems, and adherence with HIPAA is required.

Qualifications

• Must have basic knowledge of ICD-10, CM/CPT/HCPCS coding conventions and procedures.
• Working knowledge of medical practice management information systems.
• Knowledge of physician office documentation standards.
• HIPAA compliance.
• One year of Medical Assisting experience may be required for certain certs.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare for physician assessment.
• Record and maintain patient data in the medical chart.
• Assist physician with phone requests from patients and other medical professionals.
• Perform physician-requested ancillary and/or surgical patient procedures (excluding IV meds).
• Maintain equipment and supply inventory.
• Deliver safe, confidential patient care and service.
• Support lean principles and continuous improvement within the organization.
