Job summary

WellMed, part of the Optum family, seeks a Medical Assistant to support patient care under supervision. The role includes clerical and clinical duties, rooming patients, and coordinating with physicians while maintaining high standards of patient service.

Requires certification or ability to obtain within 180 days, basic Excel skills, and frequent local travel. Excellent communication and confidentiality are essential, with emphasis on infection control and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Medical Assistant certification or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers at time of hire or within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Operate diagnostic equipment and assist with exams.
• Prepare patient for examination and rooms.
• Document patient care accurately in medical record.
• Coordinate patient care with physicians and clinical team.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and provide courteous service.
• Prepare, stock and sterilize exam rooms and instruments.
• Adhere to infection control and safety policies.
• Assist with call screening and data collection as needed.
• Support and follow Standard Delegation of Orders.
