Job summary

WellMed, part of the Optum family, seeks a Medical Assistant to support clinical teams in patient care under provider supervision. The MA will handle routine procedures, patient rooming, specimen collection, and documentation with emphasis on quality care and confidentiality.

Qualifications include MA certification and BLS, plus strong medical terminology knowledge, EMR proficiency, and ability to perform calmly in emergencies. Wage based on market and full-time hours.

Qualifications

• Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers at time of hire or within 30 days of hire.
• Proven knowledge of medical terminology.
• Basic computer literacy including Word, Excel, Outlook and EMR systems.
• Proven ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Tuberculosis screening and immunity proof for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis.

Responsibilities

• Performs all duties within the scope of a Medical Assistant's practice.
• Operates diagnostic equipment and various wound care tasks; draws blood and collects cultures.
• Prepares and sterilizes medical equipment and maintains clean rooms.
• Rooms patients and prepares them for examination.
• Records patient care in the medical record accurately and promptly.
• Coordinates patient care as directed by physicians and policy.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and professional conduct.
• Follows infection control and Standard Delegation of Orders (SDO).
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
