Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health Primary Care, Inc. is seeking a Medical Assistant to deliver high-quality, direct patient care in a team-based model for BIDHC patients and to support smooth administrative and clinical practice operations.

The role involves coordinating care, obtaining vitals, assisting during visits, maintaining EHR documentation, scheduling tests, and ensuring patient safety and PHI protection. Reports to the Practice Manager.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 6 months clinical classroom.
• Graduate from BILH Primary Care Clinical Assistant Training program preferred, or EMT Basic License preferred, or Phlebotomy Certificate preferred or, other healthcare training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Builds empathetic relationships with patients, families and colleagues to support patient care.
• Facilitates patient flow during visits and informs about delays in a timely manner.
• Communicates clearly with patients and team during hand-offs and visits.
• Performs medical assisting duties such as vitals, EKGs, phlebotomy, immunizations and procedure support.
• Leads outreach for population health goals and health coaching.
• Manages equipment and supplies, maintaining clean, sterile and stocked areas.
• Documents tasks in the EHR for accurate billing and review by a clinician.
• Schedules diagnostic and lab tests and verifies insurance, referrals and pre-certifications.
• Monitors OSHA compliance and ensures PHI is used appropriately for TPO.
