Job summary

WellMed, part of the Optum family, is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care under a provider's supervision. The MA will perform clinical duties, collect specimens, administer non-intravenous medication, and document care in the EMR while upholding privacy and infection control standards.

The role emphasizes team collaboration, patient service, and adherence to clinical policies, with competitive hourly pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification or eligibility within 180 days.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers at time of hire or within 30 days.
• Proven knowledge of medical terminology.
• Basic computer literacy including Word, Excel, Outlook and EMR systems.
• Proven ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• TB screening and immunity proof (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis).

Responsibilities

• Performs duties within Medical Assistant scope of practice and operates diagnostic equipment.
• Rooms patients and prepares them for examinations.
• Records patient care documentation accurately in the EMR.
• Coordinates patient care as directed by physicians and policies.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and respectful care.
• Organizes exam rooms and sterilizes instruments; follows infection control.
