Job summary

Nurse Next Door is seeking compassionate caregivers to provide nonmedical in-home support for seniors in California. Flexible hours include 10–40 hours per week, with morning, afternoon, evening and overnight shifts available.

Home care aides must be 18+, hold CA Home Care Aide Registry registration, and complete required background checks and trainings. Training paid, with state requirements followed for eligibility and safety.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Current registration with the California Home Care Aide Registry.
• Must pass criminal background check and disclose any history.
• Evidence of entry-level training or plan to complete paid training per CA regulations.
• Evidence of tuberculosis testing and no active TB.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Self-directed with ability to work with little supervision.
• Empathy for the needs of the ill and elderly.
• Demonstrates tact, patience and good personal hygiene.
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance or reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Execute the client’s care plan as outlined by the Care Designer.
• Assist with ADLs and personal hygiene.
• Help with transfers, ambulation and daily activities.
• Support prescribed exercises.
• Plan and prepare meals and assist with diets.
• Assist with bathroom needs and incontinence care.
• Perform housekeeping, laundry, shopping and errands.
• Provide medication reminders as needed.
• Report changes to the administrator.
• Maintain accurate records of services performed.
• Drive to appointments and run errands.
• Remain alert and respond to client needs.
• Complete required trainings.
• Maintain active CA Home Care Aide Registration.
• Other duties as assigned.
