Job summary

Nurse Next Door is seeking compassionate caregivers in California to provide nonmedical in-home care for seniors, helping them stay at home and maintain independence. No experience required; flexible hours from 10 to 40 hours per week, with morning, afternoon, evening, and overnight shifts available.

As a Home Care Aide you will follow care plans, assist with ADLs, meals, transportation, light housekeeping, and reminders for medications.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• Current registration with the California Home Care Aide Registry; paid training and help with registration provided.
• Criminal background check and disclosure of any history or exemptions.
• Evidence of tuberculosis testing and no active tuberculosis.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given.
• Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision.
• Empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail and the impaired.
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance and/or reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

• Execute the client’s care plan as outlined by the Care Designer.
• Help clients with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) within the scope of practice for a Registered Health Care Aide.
• Assist with personal hygiene such as skin, mouth, hair care, bathing and dressing.
• Assist with transfers and ambulation and getting in/out of bed.
• Assist with prescribed exercises taught by health personnel.
• Meal planning and preparation including therapeutic diets and assisting with eating.
• Provide transportation to appointments or run errands.
• Report changes in the client’s condition to the administrator and complete records of services.
• Maintain accurate records of hours worked and care provided.
