Job summary

GBMC HealthCare is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our hospice team. You will work closely with the Registered Nurse and interdisciplinary staff to assess patient needs and provide compassionate care in a busy hospital environment.

The role requires strong communication, documentation, and clinical nursing skills, with a focus on patient and family education. A supportive work culture emphasizes GBMC values and quality care for patients and families.

Qualifications

• Educational requirements: an accredited school of nursing.
• One-year acute care experience preferred.
• Current registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Maryland.
• Healthcare Provider CPR certification not required for Hospice employee.

Responsibilities

• Assists in gathering data to assess physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs of patients.
• Collaborates with the registered nurse and interdisciplinary team in planning for patient needs on admission.
• Reviews care plans and provides input to update and revise them.
• Supports direct patient care utilizing clinical nursing skills and judgment.
• Provides education for patients and family and documents outcomes in the medical record.
• Initiates emergency measures when patient condition dictates.
