Job summary

Amedisys, part of the Optum family, is seeking a CNA Hospice Aide to provide compassionate, hands-on care to patients at home. You will support families during end-of-life care and work with the hospice team to maintain comfort and dignity per the care plan.

Responsibilities include personal care, safety-focused techniques, meal assistance, homemaking, and detailed patient status reporting. CNA and CPR certifications, plus a valid driver’s license, are required.

Qualifications

• Current state certification (or registration) as a nurse assistant (CNA) as per state certification/registration requirements.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provides personal care services to patients
• Applies safety principles and proper body mechanics to specific techniques of personal and supportive care
• Plans and prepares nutritious meals, assists with feeding, as assigned
• Performs homemaking and other environmental services as assigned
• Observes, reports, and documents changes in patient status
• Follow written instructions for personal care prepared by a registered nurse
• Assist patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by nurse or therapist
• Performs and records simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin
• Other duties as assigned
