Job summary

GBMC HealthCare in Baltimore, MD is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to deliver personal care to hospice patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role requires empathy, adherence to safety protocols, and accurate electronic documentation.

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least one year of experience or current enrollment in a nursing program. Hospice experience and dying-patient care are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of experience; or current enrollment in an accredited nursing program accepted in lieu of experience.
• Hospice experience preferred.
• Experience with dying patients preferred.

Responsibilities

• Attends to patient and family requests promptly; assists with bedpans, baths, oral hygiene, shampoos, feeding and linen changes.
• Ensures safety and proper use of equipment; supports patient positioning and mobility.
• Plans and prepares nutritious meals as assigned.
• Records vitals and other observations as ordered within training.
• Monitors skin integrity and reports changes to supervising nurse.
• Assists with ambulation and exercises as instructed by the Hospice Nurse or therapist.
• Maintains tidy patient room and handles light laundry as needed.
• Performs range of motion exercises and other simple therapy tasks as ordered.
