Job summary

Amedisys, a leading home health and hospice provider, is seeking a hospice aide to join our Newark, DE team. This full-time day-shift role focuses on compassionate personal care, patient safety, and support to families in the home environment.

Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, ambulation, meals, light housekeeping, and documenting changes for the nurse. Requires CNA certification, CPR, and a valid license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current state certification (or registration) as a nurse assistant per state requirements.
• CNA experience within the last two years.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provides personal care services to patients.
• Applies safety principles and proper body mechanics to activities such as ambulation, transferring, ROM, positioning and light housekeeping.
• Plans and prepares nutritious meals, assists with feeding, and helps with meals as assigned.
• Performs homemaking and other environmental services as assigned.
• Observes, reports, and documents changes in patient status; reports to the primary nurse if unable to perform tasks.
• Follows written instructions for personal care prepared by a registered nurse in the care plan.
• Assists patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by nurse or therapist.
• Performs and records simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.
• Other duties as assigned.
