Job summary

Service Corporation International in Jackson, TN is seeking a Funeral Services Assistant to provide clerical and operational support for funeral services. You will assist with setting up services, greeting families, and coordinating details under supervision.

The role requires compassion, strong communication, and basic MS Office skills; you may handle transport, usher duties, and assist with visitations as needed, while complying with policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Previous customer service and/or sales experience preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Compassion and integrity in dealing with families.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for services: floral arrangements, chairs, caskets, urns, keepsakes and stores items properly.
• Prepares documents related to services and cremations as directed.
• Assists with preparation of remains and operation of crematory as permitted.
• Performs office duties: answering phones, fax, multi-line phone system, debit card machine, etc.
• Runs errands for flowers, supplies and documents.
• Serves as usher and may park cars or handle transportation.
• Drives funeral home vehicles for services and family pickups.
• Ensures refreshments are available where allowed by law.
• Assists with visitations, memorials and funeral services, including setup and dressing/casketing.
• Greets clients and provides information at the office.
• Accommodates family needs during service/visitation.
• May wash/clean funeral home vehicles.
