Qualifications

• Post-secondary education or training in medical office administration or healthcare administration preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting including patient registration, medical office scheduling, or front desk/admissions required.
• 0-2 years of experience in customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and families professionally and compassionately.
• Register patients for emergency services and collect required information.
• Verify patient identity and insurance details; update records as needed.
• Obtain signatures on consent forms and explain each consent.
• Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for billing purposes.
• Collect co-pays or deductibles when applicable and explain financial obligations.
• Assist patients with understanding insurance requirements and answer questions.
• Document accurately when a patient cannot sign and note signs by family or nursing staff.
• Identify correct insurance plan codes to ensure prompt payment.
• Prepare paperwork to enable quick retrieval and processing of visits.
• Place armbands on patients for proper identification during their stay.
• Notify appropriate personnel of patient arrival and follow up if delays occur.
• Maintain communication during emergency codes and alert the facility as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned and maintain regular attendance.
