Qualifications

• Post-secondary education or training in medical office administration or healthcare administration preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in healthcare setting including patient registration, medical office scheduling, or front desk/admissions required
• 0-2 years of experience in customer service preferred

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and families in a professional and compassionate manner, ensuring a positive first impression.
• Registers patients for emergency services, obtaining all required personal, insurance, and medical information.
• Verifies patient identification and insurance details, making necessary updates to patient records as needed.
• Obtains patient’s or appropriate family members’ signature on consent authorization forms, explaining each consent prior to signing.
• Verifies insurance coverage and eligibility for billing purposes.
• Collects patient co-pays or deductibles when applicable and informs patients of financial obligations.
• Assists patients with understanding insurance requirements and resolves insurance-related questions.
• Documents when a patient cannot sign consent forms and notes nursing sign-off where needed.
• Verifies insurance and plans for accurate payment collection.
• Compiles necessary paperwork for quick retrieval and processing of visits.
• Places an armband on each patient for proper identification during stay.
• Notifies department or physicians of patient arrival and follows up if waiting too long.
• Maintains communication during codes and alerts the facility about emergency plans.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains regular attendance.
