Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in medical/healthcare administration preferred.
• 0–2 years of healthcare experience including patient registration or front desk/admissions.
• 0–2 years of customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and families in a professional, compassionate manner.
• Register patients for emergency services and collect required personal, insurance, and medical information.
• Verify patient identity and insurance details and update records as needed.
• Obtain signatures on consent forms and explain each consent prior to signing.
• Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for billing purposes.
• Collect co-pays or deductibles and explain financial obligations to patients.
• Assist patients in understanding insurance requirements and resolve questions.
• Document diligently if a patient cannot sign and note if a family member or nursing staff signs on their behalf.
• Identify proper insurance plan codes to ensure prompt payment.
• Assemble necessary paperwork for quick retrieval of patient visits.
• Place patient armbands for identification throughout the stay.
• Notify departments or physicians of patient arrival and follow up if patients wait.
• Maintain communication with staff during codes and emergencies.
• Perform other duties and maintain regular attendance.
