Job summary

YAI in Bronx invites applications for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes, residences, day programs, and in the community. DSPs work across morning, evening, and overnight shifts, with a focus on person-centered planning, safety, and promoting independence, social connections, and community participation.

This role requires compassion, patience, and teamwork within the YAI mission to create opportunities for people

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to meet essential physical demands (standing, lifting up to 25 lbs).
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Enthusiasm for working with people with I/DD.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals to maximize strengths and build relationships.
• Support personal goals and community involvement.
• Maintain safety and follow program guidelines and BSPs/IPOPs.
• Document progress and incidents in required systems.
• Participate in team meetings and trainings.
