Job summary

YAI is hiring Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in East New York, Brooklyn to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across home, residential, and community settings. DSPs collaborate with families and staff to promote independence, safety, and quality of life.

This role involves flexible schedules including mornings, evenings, and weekends, and requires strong communication, patience, and the ability to handle physical tasks and crisis interventions.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to meet essential physical demands of position; lift/move individuals with assistance.
• Effective written and oral communication and documentation for billing/tracking.
• Enthusiasm and empathy when supporting people with I/DD.
• Basic computer skills and use of Workday for tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision, protection, and care of individuals at all times.
• Support personal goals and encourage socializing within the community.
• Follow behavior support plans and maintain safety protocols.
• Document services accurately and maintain clinical logs/daily notes.
• Collaborate with team and participate in trainings and meetings.
• Assist with crisis intervention and adhere to HIPAA/compliance.
• Possibly operate vehicle and transport individuals as needed.
