Job summary

Rockport Healthcare Services in Costa Mesa, CA is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide routine nursing care under the supervision of nursing staff, ensuring quality resident care at all times.

You will perform essential duties such as assisting residents with daily activities, maintaining clean, safe patient rooms, and documenting observations in accordance with facility policy; strong English communication is required.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a school for nursing assistants or have a CNA license.
• Minimum 6 months CNA experience or clinical experience during training.
• Sincere desire to serve the ill, aged and infirm.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Ability to deal tactfully with residents, families, staff and the public.
• Willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
• Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm for residents.
• In good general health and emotionally stable.
• Able to relate to ill, disabled, elderly and sometimes hostile residents.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties per facility policies and safety rules.
• Make rounds at start of shift and every two hours to provide care.
• Verify resident identification before care or meals.
• Make beds and clean bedside tables.
• Serve water and keep pitchers tidy.
• Dress residents and assist with clothing.
• Assist prepare residents for meals and feeding.
• Serve nourishment per procedures.
• Feed residents who cannot feed themselves.
• Ensure food is accessible and self-help devices are available.
• Prepare residents for therapy, activities, visits, etc.
• Keep incontinent residents clean and change linens as needed.
• Do not permit smoking in bed.
• Ensure nurse call system is within reach.
• Answer call lights promptly.
• Check for food in residents' room and keep sealed.
• Report complaints/abuse/medication/hazards.
• Attend in-service programs.
• Other related duties as directed.
