Job summary

Michigan Humane is seeking an Animal and Customer Care Associate to support the adoption center operations in Detroit. You will handle adoptions, assist with intakes and euthanasia requests, and ensure high-quality care for all animals, while delivering friendly, helpful customer service.

You will be on a full-time schedule of 4 ten-hour shifts, with responsibilities including feeding, cleaning, enrichment, and daily upkeep.

Qualifications

• Flexible with the ability to thrive in an emotional, fast-paced work environment.
• Ability to show compassion to both people and animals in sensitive situations.
• Possesses good communication skills, diplomacy, and tact at all times.
• Labor intensive; must be able to stand for long periods, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, and lift 50lbs without assistance.
• Required weekend schedule.
• Provides experience expectations or education as listed (HS diploma or equivalent).
• 1-3 years of related experience; previous animal experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Process adoptions and assist with intakes and euthanasia requests.
• Provide the highest quality of care for animals in the adoption center.
• Deliver excellent customer service and explain procedures and protocols to visitors.
• Assist potential adopters through the process and complete forms and paperwork.
• Maintain cleanliness and disinfect kennels, dishes, cages, and yard areas daily.
