Job summary

Birch Agency seeks a caring Teacher Aide / Paraprofessional to support a 1st grade student with autism in a Cleveland, OH school. You will work closely with the classroom teacher and support team to foster academic, behavioral, social, and personal growth throughout the day.

Ideal candidates are patient, dependable, and team-oriented, with experience in schools or related settings. Paraprofessional certification or coursework is a plus and you’ll contribute to an inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting students with autism or other developmental needs.
• Experience in a school, special education, or behavioral support setting is a plus.
• Paraprofessional certification or related coursework is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized one-on-one support to a 1st grade student with autism.
• Assist with tableside instruction, classroom activities, and academic tasks.
• Help the student follow classroom routines, directions, and expectations.
• Reinforce academic, behavioral, and social goals established by the classroom team.
• Support the student during transitions and daily classroom activities.
• Provide positive encouragement, redirection, and reinforcement when needed.
• Help promote the student's independence and participation in the classroom.
• Collaborate with the classroom teacher, special education staff, and school team.
• Follow student-specific support strategies and school policies.
• Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
