Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have an Illinois ELS Paraprofessional Educator Endorsement or Short-Term Approval prior to employment.
• Experience with diverse learning, behavioural, and communication needs preferred.
• Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to assist students with academic, behavioural, and personal care needs as assigned.
• Must be able to pass a physical abilities test prior to starting employment.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of individualized instructional and behavioural plans under the direction of certified staff.
• Provide one-on-one and small-group academic and behavioural support.
• Reinforce social-emotional and independent living skills throughout the school day.
• Assist with behaviour intervention strategies and de-escalation techniques as directed.
• Support students during classroom instruction, transitions, lunch, electives, community-based activities, and other school routines.
• Collect and document student progress and behavioural data as requested.
• Prepare instructional materials and assist in maintaining a structured, safe, and organised learning environment.
