Job summary

Mahomet-Seymour Jr. High is seeking a COMPASS Paraprofessional for 2026-2027.

The successful candidate will work with teachers, service providers, and administrators to provide academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and functional support in a structured learning environment that promotes student growth and independence. Responsibilities include implementing instructional and behavioral plans, offering one-on-one and small-group support, reinforcing social-emotional and independent living

Qualifications

• Must have an Illinois ELS Paraprofessional Educator Endorsement or the Short-Term Approval for the Paraprofessional or the ability to obtain one of these license options prior to employment.
• Experience working with students with diverse learning, behavioral, and communication needs is preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to assist students with academic, behavioral, and personal care needs as assigned.
• Must be able to pass a physical abilities test prior to starting employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with behavior intervention strategies and de-escalation techniques as directed.

• Prepare instructional materials and assist in maintaining a structured, safe, and organized learning environment.
