Job summary

Mahomet-Seymour Junior High is seeking a COMPASS Paraprofessional for the 2026-2027 school year. You will collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and administrators to deliver academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and functional support in a structured learning environment that promotes student growth and independence.

Responsibilities include implementing instructional and behavioral plans, providing one-on-one and small-group support, reinforcing SEL and independent living

Qualifications

• Must have Illinois ELS Paraprofessional Educator Endorsement or Short-Term Approval prior to employment.
• Experience with diverse learning, behavioral, and communication needs preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work well in a team; pass a physical abilities test before starting.

Responsibilities

• Support implementation of individualized instructional and behavioral plans under certified staff.
• Provide one-on-one and small-group academic and behavioral support.
• Reinforce social-emotional and independent living skills throughout the day.
• Assist with behavior intervention strategies and de-escalation as directed.
• Support students during classroom instruction, transitions, lunch, electives, and community activities.
• Collect and document student progress and behavioral data; prepare instructional materials.
