Responsibilities
- Responsible for preventive maintenance and inspections
- Assist other skilled employees in performing repairs on FrontRunner locomotives, cab, and coach systems, including electric over pneumatic doors, HVAC, couplers, passenger amenities, communications, air brakes, cab controls, electrical, and diesel engines
Pay Rate
$26.52 - $30.52 per hour plus $1.00 to $1.50 shift differential depending on shift. This is a four-year wage progression.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 2 years’ mechanical work experience and/or 1 year technical school/training
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance, inspection, and repair techniques
- Knowledge of pneumatic, mechanical, and electronic systems
- Ability to pass standardized tests (MET) and hands-on tests administered by UTA
- Competence in basic computer skills, including Outlook
- Ability to work safely on energized equipment up to 480 VAC and 600 VDC
- Ability to acquire and maintain QMP certification and qualify as a Locomotive Maintenance Person
- Ability to operate various shop equipment (forklift, crane, track mobile, etc.)
- Successful completion of training and qualification periods
- Provision of required tools on day of hire
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain DOT Medical card and a valid Utah driver’s license
- Clean driving record with limited violations
- Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting, walking, working at heights, and in various weather conditions
