As a Commuter Rail Technician Helper for the Utah Transit Authority, you will:

1. Perform preventive maintenance and inspections.
2. Assist skilled employees in repairing FrontRunner locomotives, cabs, and coach systems, including electric, pneumatic doors, HVAC, couplers, passenger amenities, communications, air brakes, cab controls, electrical, and diesel engines.

Pay Rate: $26.52 - $30.52 per hour plus $1.00 to $1.50 shift differential, depending on shift. This position has a four-year wage progression.

Minimum Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years’ mechanical work experience and/or 1 year of technical school/training.
• Knowledge of vehicle maintenance, inspection, and repair techniques.
• Understanding of pneumatic, mechanical, and electronic systems.
• Ability to pass the MET and hands-on test administered by UTA.
• Competence in basic computer skills, including Outlook.
• Capability to work safely on energized equipment up to 480 VAC and 600 VDC.
• Ability to acquire and maintain QMP certification and qualify as a Locomotive Maintenance Person.
• Must provide required tools and be able to operate various shop equipment.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work in diverse teams.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical card and a valid Utah driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting up to 50 lbs, working in various weather conditions, and working at heights.
• Regular and predictable attendance is required.
