Job summary

Chatham County Police Department seeks a Community Resource Officer to support public service and police operations. You will engage with the public, handle records, assist with preliminary investigations, and connect residents to community resources.

Three positions exist in Behavioral Health, CI, or Support Services (Record Unit). Requirements include HS diploma or GED, 2+ years in customer service or clerical work, and a valid driver's license. Training hours and 21+ age are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least two years of experience in customer service, clerical work, or related field.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Must be 21 years of age and pass required training hours.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support to the assigned Division.
• Perform various non-emergency public service-related functions.
• Conduct preliminary investigations of non-emergency incidents and prepare incident reports.
• Perform front desk duties in the assigned division.
• Develop, prepare, and maintain filing systems, logs, and records.
• Address public concerns by phone, letter, emails, and in person.
• Use databases and records retention systems daily.
• Greet and provide information to the public.
• Attend public relations and community engagement events.
• Provide accurate and reliable reports regarding services rendered and referrals to resources.
