Job summary

Xcel Energy in Minnesota invites applications for a summer internship focused on Community Relations. You will assist in updating databases, coordinating meetings, and researching municipal and legislative developments that impact company operations.

The role supports Community Relations Managers across Minnesota, may require travel, and follows a hybrid work policy with in-person attendance. Applicants must be enrolled and available to work full-time during the summer.

Qualifications

• Current student, Junior or higher
• Enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a listed degree
• Support Community Relations Managers across Minnesota (travel may be required)
• Willing to travel within Minnesota to support offices and meetings
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours/week) and commute to the designated work location in-person under a hybrid policy

Responsibilities

• Assist updating and maintaining city, county, township, tribal nation, school district, economic development, and community organization databases.
• Support scheduling and coordination of meetings, community outreach events, facility tours, stakeholder briefings, and local government engagements.
• Conduct research on municipalities, local government initiatives, economic development opportunities, legislative issues, and community trends affecting Company operations.
• Assist Community Relations Managers with briefing materials, presentations, meeting agendas, stakeholder profiles, and follow-up documentation.
• Support tracking and organization of permits, franchise agreements, community projects, and other territory initiatives.
• Assist with special projects and administrative support activities to improve operations across Minnesota Community Relations.
