Job summary

The Salvation Army in Chicago seeks a capable program coordinator to provide leadership for corps programming, youth ministries, and community outreach. The role focuses on administration, events, and communication to ensure impactful programming in line with the Army's mission.

You will collaborate with Corps Officers, manage scheduling, promotions, and donor coordination while supporting Christmas and other seasonal initiatives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree in ministry, education, nonprofit management, recreation, youth development, human services, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of two years of experience coordinating programs, events, activities, volunteer initiatives, youth programs, ministry programs, or community outreach.
• Valid driver's license and MVR clearance required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, virtual communication platforms, and social media.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) with ability to communicate fluently in Spanish required.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to staff, volunteers, and participants when Corps Officers are unavailable.
• Report monthly records and statistics of Corps programming.
• Collect and record payments for dues/fees for Corps programs.
• Coordinate budget needs for programs.
• Lead Sunday Youth/Junior Church and promote youth programming.
• Assist with planning and implementing programming across Army programs.
• Coordinate with Corps Officers to schedule and promote events via social media, posters, and other channels.
• Distribute and maintain materials for programming and events.
• Assist with special Corps events and outreach activities.
• All other duties as assigned.
