Job summary

Center for Family Services in Paterson, New Jersey seeks a Prevention Specialist to coordinate and deliver a comprehensive primary prevention program in the community. You will work directly with victims of sexual and domestic violence and report to the Program Director.

The role requires a 40-hour NJ Confidential Sexual Violence Advocate certificate, experience in prevention, and strong communication and public speaking skills.

Qualifications

• 40-hour NJ Confidential Sexual Violence Advocate certificate required.
• Experience with sexual violence prevention required.
• Demonstrated project management experience.
• Experience working with survivors; sensitivity toward their needs.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Public speaking experience required.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Ability to collaborate with community organizations and agencies.
• Bachelor's Degree in communication, education, human services, criminal justice, public health or marketing.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and facilitate the Prevention Coalition and Workgroup meetings.
• Recruit new community members/organizations to support the Coalition.
• Maintain ongoing communication with active Coalition members.
• Implement the full prevention program at sites including Green Dot and Media Literacy.
• Develop prevention-related activities (Denim Day, Social Norms Messaging).
• Develop community action plans (PSA, billboard) with partners.
• Serve as team lead to other prevention personnel.
• Secure sites for primary prevention with 30+ consistent participants.
• Provide training to volunteers and staff in prevention presentations.
• Present Outreach Education programs on sexual violence and bystander intervention.
• Maintain quarterly and monthly statistical reports.
• Coordinate with schools in conducting prevention programs.
• Maintain documentation following guidelines.
• Assist with office procedures; some weekends/evenings required.
