Job summary

Sun Communities seeks a Maintenance Technician to perform routine and preventative maintenance across our communities in Michigan. You will handle home/building repairs, grounds upkeep, snow removal, and utility system maintenance, while delivering excellent resident service.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, valid driver's license, ability to lift 50 lbs, and comfort working outdoors. On-call availability and teamwork are essential; benefits include paid time off and comprehensive

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 6 months in apartment/manufactured housing maintenance preferred.
• 6 months snow removal experience preferred (plow truck).
• 6 months general maintenance/repair experience preferred.
• Ability to endure outdoor temperatures.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs; basic computer proficiency incl. email/internet.
• Able to work on-call schedule.
• Proficient with hand tools, power equipment and commercial machinery.
• Provide legible written reports.
• General knowledge of plumbing, electrical and grounds maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Ensures trash/debris is picked up daily from common areas and streets.
• Completes minor repairs to rental homes and facilities as needed.
• Inspects irrigation system regularly and repairs as needed.
• Maintains vacant sites and removes trash and debris.
• Removes snow from community areas; may operate plow truck and spread salt.
• Maintains lawns: weeds, mulch, hedges, trees and general lawn care.
• Ensures streets and routes are hazard-free.
• Performs water testing and maintenance on well-water/sewer systems if applicable.
• Reports maintenance issues to the manager.
• Completes pre/post-occupancy condition checklists.
• Maintains community curb appeal and cleanliness.
• Cleans clubhouse, offices, restrooms, laundry areas and maintenance garage.
• Assists manager with supervision of service contractors.
• Inspects playgrounds, pools/spas and other amenities for condition.
