Job summary

MLCS is seeking a Community Engagement Development Assistant to support weekly Friday Kickback programming and assist with larger neighborhood events. The role supports youth engagement and works with the youth team to plan and facilitate activities for ages 6-12, including budgeting and sponsorship coordination.

Community Engagement Development Assistant

This is a part-time, 8-10 hour/week position.

Schedule: Office hours are Monday-Friday from 11am-7pm

Compensation: $20 per hour

Maverick Landing Community Services (MLCS)is a multi-service organization in the heart of the Maverick Landing housing development in East Boston. Our mission is to build a fair community by uplifting and supporting families, promoting community health, and nurturing resident and youth leadership & creativity. We do this by offering wrap around resident services, adult education classes such as ESOL and digital literacy, robust youth and family programming, weekly food distributions, and housing advocacy and support.

Our team is looking to hire a Community Engagement Development Assistant for our weekly Friday Kickback programming as well as to support larger program wide and neighborhood events.

This role will work in with our youth Community Engagement team to plan and facilitate weekly Friday Kickback gatherings targeted towards youth ages 6-12 years. The Community Engagement Development Assistant will submit sponsorship requests from relevant sponsors to support Kickback events. This role will maintain the Kickback budget and continuously seek to have materials and other Kickback expenses be covered by sponsorships.

MLCS Kickback programming acts as an opportunity for MLCS youth employees to create a space where young people can come to share safe space, build proper relationships between youth attendees and teen staff, and to explore STEAM based activities amongst peers.

You will work with a team of youth employees to plan and facilitate relevant kickback themes— ensuring to include cultural celebrations and key holidays. With a primary focus on maintaining a monthly budget, ordering proper materials and supplies, when necessary, event set-up and break-down, and reaching out to vendors or partners for event collaboration.

The Community Engagement Development Assistant will report to our Youth Programs Coordinator.
